Karlovasi is the commercial heart of Samos. Karlovasi is the second city after Vathi, in size and popularity. In Karlovasi live about 7.000 people. The Aegean University is located in Karlovasi with about 2.000 students.
       The port of Karlovasi was one of the biggest in Greece. It has connected East with West. It was like a path between East, Africa and West Europe.
       In the 1940s, the German and the Italian people who came to Greece, used to call Karlovasi "The little Paris".
In karlovasi there are old buildings, that anyone admires. Their rhythm is unique and is called neoclassical. The mast rich families used to live there.
       As you understand, Karlovasi has the greatest development of all the places in Samos.
